Hi all

just a quick one. I was wondering if anyone could tell me at what age horses get their last set of teeth. I was riding yesterday and my mare seemed very sore in the mouth. I checked her over but couldn't see anything obvious but someone said that it could be her teeth she has not long turned 5 and up until yesterday was going fine.

Im not 100% sure but i think at 5years old they have all their teeth thru. But a horses teeth grow continually thru its life.
Has your mare ever seen a dentist?
Most people think that horses shouldnt see a dentist till their old but its not true. All horses should see a dentist about once a year.
so if ur worried its ur mares teeth that are causing the problem then id make an appointment for a dentist to have a look at her.

She was seen by a dentist last month and got the all clear so I don't think that's the problem. I have given her the week off as I've been unwell and so have the kids so I will see what she is like tommorow. Fingers crossed
